For New Hampshire residents, a commuter bus provides express service from NH I-93 to the Ballardvale Street/Lowell Junction area of Andover and Wilmington.

Who may use the service, and what are the passenger fares?

The service is free for employees of TMO member companies. Contact the TMO Coordinator for information about how employees of other area businesses may use the service.

When does the bus operate?

The operating schedule is derived primarily from both employee surveys and rider feedback and may be adjusted to meet changing needs. Presently, the bus provides one round-trip daily, Monday through Friday, as follows:

How do I get home if I take the bus in the morning and have to work late unexpectedly or leave early because of a family emergency?

If you were to ride the express bus at least twice per week, in case of emergency you would be eligible for the Junction TMO’s Emergency Ride Home (ERH) service. The ERH permits you to get a free taxi ride back to the Park & Ride lot where you were picked up. Details about the ERH service are available from the TMO Coordinator .

The current bus schedule is not convenient for me, but I would like to rideshare to work. What other commuting alternatives are available?

For carpooling or vanpooling, please register with CARAVAN for Commuters, the Massachusetts computerized ride matching system (available to NH residents, too). Shortly after you register, CARAVAN will send you a customized “Commuter Assistance Report” summarizing all of your commuting options. You may find that a carpool or vanpool would work for you – especially with CARAVAN’s discounted car and van leasing options. If no commuters can be found who meet your ride match needs, contact the TMO Coordinator.

In addition, free shuttle service from the Ballardvale T station is now available through Call and Commute, the TMO’s subscription shuttle service. Call and Commute accommodates employees who use the train between Ballardvale and other points on the commuter rail system. Employees who live in several nearby communities are also eligible for Call and Commute’s door-to-door service on a first-come, first-served basis.

May other area employees use the NH bus, too?

It is hoped that employees of all Junction TMO corporate members will be able to use the service. Initially, we are serving only Wyeth, Gillette, Sodexho, and JE Merit employees. If employees of other area firms who are not yet TMO members want to use the service, we will try to accommodate them as space, budgets and schedules permit. In order to maintain convenience and sustain ridership, however, the number of stops in the Andover/Wilmington employment area will be limited.
