Car-Free Day
September 22, 2025

Every year on September 22, cities around the world celebrate World Car-Free Day.

MassCommute is challenging commuters across Massachusetts to leave the car behind and use an eco-friendly mode of transportation for the day, such as biking, walking, public transit, ferry, telework, carpooling, or shuttles. By taking the pledge, you’ll be part of a global movement, making a positive impact on the environment, and helping to create a greener Massachusetts.

In 2025, Car-Free Day brought together 1,749 Massachusetts commuters who saved 32,916 miles, $28K, and 16 tons of GHG emissions, just by choosing sustainable transportation.
